January 2017, SCYA: Back in 2005, congress passed the Renewable Fuel Law which requires infusion of biofuels like corn-ethanol into the nation’s gasoline and diesel fuel supply. The current standard is 10% and the EPA is asking for comments on a plan to increase the blend to 15%. There are several studies that show ethanol causes engine damage costing thousands of dollars to repair.

nSCYA, along with Recreational Boaters of California (RBOC) and BoatUS, are asking all boat owners to take a strong stance against the increased ethanol legislation. All boaters are urged to call on congress to fix the failed policy. BoatUS has a URL whereby you can make your voice heard by signing a digital petition to reform the law: http://www.boatus.com/gov/?utm_source=membership&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=eline_062016
