December 8, 1931 – December 13, 2021

nMorrie Kirk, the 1970 Commodore of the Southern California Yachting Association passed away on December 13th. He also served as Commodore of Balboa Yacht Club in 1977 and Commodore of Pacific Coast Yachting Association in 1979. Morrie, a long-standing member of the California Yacht Brokers since 1999 served as its President in 2005 and worked as a broker at Bayport Yachts and Orange Coast Yachts. For many years he owned a battery manufacturing firm in Southern California. Morrie started boating at the age of three and participated in several Transpacific yacht races over the years. Morrie was well respected and loved by many. He had a big heart and made a huge impact on the boating world in Newport Beach. Being the most senior commodore in the room at every meeting he attended, he will be fondly remembered as the consummate toastmaster of SCYA and missed by all.
