Facilities: No clubhouse or office. Fairwind is a dockside club based in Marina Del Rey (MDR) and in Channel Island Harbor, Oxnard (CIH). The Club owns a fleet of 32 keelboats ranging from 22 feet to 40 feet, 15 in MDR and 17 in CIH. The club also operates a fleet of 9 Hobie Cats and 4 Capri 14.2’s for their Youth Program which is run in conjunction with The Boys & Girls Club. Boats are for the use of members and their guests only. No charter / rental. Members of SCYA clubs are invited to sail with member(s) by arrangement. An Open House is held monthly in each harbor. Fairwind is an ASA Sailing School for FYC Members only and has more than 50 ASA Instructors.

Membership: Fairwind welcomes all adults to join regardless of race, gender, nationality, creed or other affiliations. The Club usually has a Waiting List. Check the website or email: info@fairwind.org, Initiation fee $300 plus $150 Bond. Dues $120 / $360 per quarter.

Comments: Fairwind is a not -for -profit, cooperative, community sailing club that provides affordable sailing and promotes boat access to the community. The Club was founded in1966 as the Hughes Aircraft Employees Sailing Club but no longer has any corporate affiliation. The Club is run by volunteer members and has no paid staff. Members maintain the boats, train members, administer the club and organize events. Fairwind cosponsors an at risk youth sailing program with the Boys & Girls Club of Venice and with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Oxnard & Port Hueneme.
