SCYA is pleased to announce the 2024 criteria for Club of the Year. Having heard from our member clubs, we’ve made changes to encourage greater participation.
Recognizing Club of the Year and Racing Club of the Year. These categories will not be divided by membership category, Senior, Regular, and Associate clubs will compete against each other in this category. These are designed to reward clubs that do the most cruising and the most racing.
Also, to allow for greater competition, we have combined the Model Yacht, Angling, and Predicted Log categories. While the categories still exist, clubs will only we awarded points in one of those three categories. For example, a club that does not have a Model Yacht Program can instead use their Angling program.
Changes for 2024
- Introduction of the Cruising Club of the Year
- Introduction of the Racing Club of the Year
- Only one of the following categories for each club will count towards Club of the Year
- Model Yacht Program
- Club Angling and Participation,
- Club Cruiser Navigation/Predicted Log Program
- Adding two points for completing the SCYA Survey
- The November 2023 General Meeting will not count towards SCYA participation except in the event of a tie.
Important Dates:
- January 13, 2024 – Attend the SCYA Change of Watch/Installation Ceremony
- January 12, 2024 – Remit club dues to SCYA
- January 27, 2024 – Club of the Year Seminar at Seal Beach Yacht Club
- January 31, 2024 – Submit club Yearbook data to SCYA
- February 1, 2024 – Appoint club COY coordinator and provide membership information
- November 12, 2024 – Submit COY Binder for 2024
