Captain Jane Thomas

Jane learned to sail in Lake Huron in junior college, and moved aboard a boat in northern California in 1980. My husband and I cruised in Mexico for 3 years in the late 1980s, returned to build a bigger boat (from a bare hull), and moved to Oxnard in 2003. Now, I am retired from a career in clinical research and we spend most of our time aboard our (nearly-finished) 55’ 3-masted schooner in Channel Islands Harbor. About 14 years ago I was drafted to skipper an all-women crew for a lady-driver race at my home yacht club. I was hooked and have skippered an all-women racing team ever since. In addition to local racing around Ventura and Channel Islands Harbors, I have participated in the LEMWOD Regatta every year since 2011.
