July 8, 2017 SCYA General Meeting
Guest Speaker Wayne Kotow, Executive Director
Coastal Conservation Association California
The purpose of the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) is to educate the public on the conservation and enhancement of coastal marine resources. The CCA has 19 state Chapters, with over 120,000 members, and has participated in every national fishery debate since 1984. The Coastal Conservation Association California (CCA CAL) was formed in 2015, and now has four Chapters in Southern California: San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, and Channel Islands.
Our guest speaker will be Wayne Kotow Executive Director of CCA CAL; he will provide us with an introduction to the California chapter and discuss some of the issues facing California and on a national level. SCYA supports CCA CALs activities and we are delighted to have Wayne share his views on conserving the resources enjoyed by so many sport anglers.
Wayne is a San Diego resident, has a life-long passion for angling and conservation. He is knowledgeable on all facets of the fishing industry, from manufacturers to retail, as well as the sport fishing fleet. He serves on the board of the Make-A-Wish Tuna Challenge, and volunteers tirelessly for the Poway Kids Fishing Derby, the Crystal Pier Kids Fishing Derby, and Wounded Warriors events.
