nnThe Port of San Diego decided against including their updated In Water Hull Cleaning ordinance on the January 9, 2020 Commissioner meeting agenda and have put applications for new hull cleaning divers on hold. This appears to be the direct result of feedback from the divers, some of whom are already increasing their fees for hull cleaning services to boat owners. RBOC is working with boat owners and divers to send a clear message to the Port regarding the cost increases associated with their proposal, Best Management Practices and whether a problem even exists, illustrating the benefit of Site-Specific Testing. The future Port of San Diego meeting date to address this ordinance has not been set.
